A week of drawing at Sturt Summer School.......I forgot how exhausting drawing is!
Especially self portraiture. I don't like looking at my ugly mug normally!
Here is my little corner of the gym we worked in.
Apologies for the photos, my camera is playing up so here are some Mum took for me. I would have liked to have shown you a sequence so you could see how much the drawings changed. I'm not finished with them yet. I might stick them in a cupboard and deal with them later.
The bigger one on the left is the last drawing I was working on. I didn't mean to look that surly! I was definitely feeling that way by the end of the course though.... Ugh! No more mirrors!
Here is my celebrity shot.
Meet David Fairbairn.
Quite a decent bloke actually. ;)
All of the workshops set up little exhibitions on the last day so you can see what everyone was up to.
They have a couple of kids classes too.
Clay dogs!
I was a bit jealous of all the kids in this class, they were having so much fun!
On the way out there was a little Schnauzer doggie tired up waiting for it's owner, shivering like a leaf. I've never seen a dog shiver so much! We came to the conclusion he must have been the model for the kids....poor little fella, he was traumatised!!
Unfortunately we didn't get any photographic evidence....his owner's whisked him away to safety before we'd had a chance.
Oh, Here is a lovely lovely sculpture in the Frencham college grounds that I was a little obsessed with. Proof of how the other half live.
AND proof of my frustrating camera that just can't focus properly anymore. :(
To the camera doctor you go my friend....
Since I spent a week thinking about art and my favourite artists I thought I'd share a few favourite portraits with you all. Just some images that inspired me over the week.
Firstly, Mike Parr.
Another hero.
Arthur Boyd.
Auerbach.
Alberto Giacometti.
Frida Kahlo.
(Just LOOK at her!)
Ben Quilty.
Kevin Connor.
William Robinson.
Francesco Clemente.
Lucien Freud.
Not quite a portrait, but my favourite. :)
Joy Hester.
Dali.
The BEST photo.
So there you go. Plenty to look at!
More drawings to come......
David has switched the light back on!
Thankyou!
