Food, Festivities & Farewells

Hello Possums.

Another Christmas done and dusted.
We had all Mum's family for a couple of days with far too much eating.
I'm not complaining though.....

Turkey, Ham, Pork, Russian Carrot Pie, every baked vegie you can think of, coleslaw, green salad from the garden, fruit salad, other salads, Granny's amazing plum pudding, Mum's rocky road, pavlova, hummus, baba ganoush, various other biscuits and cakes, chocolate and more chocolate.

AND Sticky Cranberry Gingerbread. You should make this....It is THE BEST.
I got the recipe from a lovely blog called A Sweet Spoonful.

Here are a couple of silly photos.

Flying presents....

Every year Bella the pup gets a present too.
Look, a "Jolly Ball"!

This is my sister Aly.
Look how pleased she is with her Smitten Kittens.
(just $25......happy loved one....priceless! :)
Sorry, couldn't help myself...

This little fella was a Christmas gift for my Granny.
It took a loooong time.
I tend to start off with a simple idea and it always grows into a complicated monster.
I have trouble deciding when things are finished too....

one more stitch.....

Look! He's made a home in one of Mum's nests.

More on the subject of food.....
We've spent the last week gorging ourselves on apricots too.
Our tree had an amazing crop and now the house is filled with the smell of apricot jam.
Yum Yum!

On another note.....
Today is a sad day.
Helen Frankenthaler died at 83.
She was GREAT.

This year has been a sad year.
They've all left us.

Here are some of her beautiful monoprints.

the wonderful lady at work.

And a painting I'm quite partial to.

BUT.....
to end on a happier warm and fuzzy feeling.....
 I am quite excited!!!
Next week I am going to Sturt Summer School to partake in a week of drawing fun with a hero of mine, David Fairbairn

He's also GREAT!

Here are a couple of his magnificent layered drawing-paintings.
It's nice to find an artist who likes drawing and painting AND printing too.
He prints quick research monotypes then whips up some etchings as the base for his drawing and painting.

And in case I forget....

Happy New Year Petals.

I hope you all have a wondrous year ahead with lots of creating and adventures.

Thanks for reading my blog.

See you next year!
