Still Life

'Tis the year of great painters dying. :( sigh.
Cy Twombly and now Margaret Olley.

Look at her house! It's amazing. And I thought my Mum was a hoarder....

A couple of days ago my mum and i staged a still life drawing frenzy in homage to Margie.
We had a bunch of beautiful nasturtians from the garden and the most velvety amazing looking purple cabbage I've ever seen. (It didn't taste too bad either!)

Of course, I couldn't help myself and made a print instead.
Monoprints are the best! They're so easy and immediate. You draw straight onto a plastic plate with oil pastels and through the press they go! I started experimenting with putting down some watercolour first and then printing over the top.
Here's Mum drawing on her plate.

The prints were a bit of a disaster, but I had lots of fun making them.

AND now i've got lots of ideas bubbling around in my head.

It's been so warm here, 27 degrees in winter!!
It's crazy. It made ME crazy for Summer so i went for a swim in the sea. It was a litte chilly.....and it wasn't a long swim....brrrr!
But, in true Batemans Bay Winter fashion we had the beautiful North Durras beach all to our little lonesomes...... I felt a little spoilt really.
And here's proof!!
