On the Island of Love

Happy Valentine's Day Peachpuffs.

Another new look for juliemiaowl. It's like rearranging your lounge room!
I've managed to get some of my Bat & Owl Press work into a couple of shops. YAY!!
Moruya Books & Little Finch in Braidwood are both selling my wares.
I also have a new Facebook page.
It's all full steam ahead for Bat & Owl Press!!

In other news,

Dearests on Parade!
Just some experimenting....

hand colouring with watercolour...

and some monoprinting with the lino and coloured ink.

My sister had her 21st birthday this week so I made her a special Flamingirl print.
It's particularly kitsch, but it IS Valentine's Day after all.

Whilst wasting numerous hours trawling blogs I found this lovely photographer, Karen Knorr.
She likes flamingos too.

AND YOU should read The Summer Book by Tove Jansson
Tove is my new hero. I didn't even realise Islands of the gulf of Finland existed! You can buy your own for only 700 000 Euro. Bargain!
It all made me feel very Summery, something that's a little mysterious at the moment.....

This is a picture of the house Tove used to live in. It's an island similar to the one she based the novel on.
Look at that crazy landscape! So sparse...

As lines of investigation continued I came across this artist, Antti Laitenen from Helsinki, who made his own Island out of sandbags on the Gulf of Finland.

I'm craving some personal space at the moment......can you tell?

My Mum also found me this new little friend.
His name's Maurice and he fits nicely in my pocket.

Til next time....
:)
xoxo
