Hello Poppets,
The first day of Winter...
Our house is an ice box so I am blaming my inactivity on the cold. That counts as something doesn't it? I've been eating more too....mmmmm........honey and rosemary cake...
My show at Monet's is long gone, my river of art exhibition at the bookshop is over and now there's a show at books kinokuniya to work towards.
If only framing costs weren't so high I'd make a whole new body of work. C'est la vie.....
There will be new work peppered through the already existing though.
New and old friends.
Here is something new...
The plan is to collage the tissue paper rubbings onto the canvas and work back over the top with more drawing.
In other news I sold my "Autumn Dearest" this week.
A little sad really, it's like giving away a child.....or maybe a puppy.
A lovely lady bought him though so I know he's gone to a good home. One with children and laughter and a puppy named Muffy who loves to wiggle like a worm when you rub her tummy.
Farewell my Autumn Dearest... |
The realities of life and money are starting to hit hard. "Winter is coming......."
Less people are around so less work and less money. Sigh. The catch of living in a beautiful but small holiday destination that relies on tourism to survive. I've hit a wall with my Bat & Owl Stock too.....what next?!!! How to survive being an artist when you're a lazy, procrastinating one??!!!
AND reading fantastic books like Game of Thrones and The Tiger's Wife does NOT help either. All I want to do is READ!
What else......
A new embroidery project....
And some new etching plates are in the works. I have big plans to try some metal plates out and do some serious etching. Aluminium and Copper Sulphate style.
These two are drypoint etchings on plastic plates. I'll be printing them up tomorrow. :)
I'm a bit obsessed with Birds at the moment. Birds of Prey in particular.
We've even been lucky enough to get a few Eagle and Owl sightings in.
Here is something I LOVE.
Sir David Attenborough talking all about Birds of Prey. Isn't he dreamy? :)
My Favourite, the Peregrine Falcon |
Some more ruffling of feathers...
Thanks Janey! :)
ReplyDeleteI've printed some of the drypoints, they look pretty good. I've been experimenting with embossing plants and leaves with chen colle. It's so much fun!
I love what you're doing with the painted monotypes. Beautiful! :)
