Black & White Distractions

Apologies for the lack of blogging.

I've been a naughty little rabbit.

But also a busy little beaver too....
Studying, eating, visiting the beach, watching old Cary Grant movies and reading (I've joined a book club and was a little over zealous with the collection of books I brought home to read. Study....what study?!).

Philadelphia Story, 1940 (Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant & Katharine Hepburn)

I also finally got enough energy to go through all of my old work from Uni and the last couple of years. It's amazing what you keep. Lots went in the bin and after all that there's no extra space! It was really great to look at how I used to draw and all the different projects i've worked on. You forget how much you've actually made. There're so many scrap prints that I can use for something else, give them a new life. So much paper to draw on! It's like being a kid again and doodling all over the story books your parents read to you (I was pretty good at that! :)

I found some old photocopies of animals in my offcuts box, weird disjointed compositions; half of a racoon face, an elephants bum, a birds beak.

Here are some of the etchings I've been playing around with.

These are all artist's proofs so there'll be better prints to come (and photos!).
The next experiments will have more collage on them too.

Well, back to the study I suppose.........or maybe some more Cary and Jimmy....!! :)
